AKRON — Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation (TVSC) announced a milestone for the 2025–26 school year: Every eligible school within the district has earned recognition as a Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Distinguished School.
Honorees include Akron Elementary, Mentone Elementary, Tippecanoe Valley Middle School and Tippecanoe Valley High School, according to a news release from TVSC.
In addition, TVSC has been named a PLTW Distinguished District, a national designation that highlights a system-wide commitment to high-quality STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education across all grade levels. This distinction is awarded to a select group of schools and districts nationwide that demonstrate broad access to transformative learning experiences through PLTW Launch, Gateway and high school programs. The recognition affirms TVSC’s dedication to preparing students with the real-world knowledge, critical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities needed to succeed in a rapidly evolving global economy.
Achieving Distinguished recognition across every eligible school reflects a coordinated effort at every level of the corporation.
TVSC teachers are the driving force behind this achievement. Through ongoing professional development and implementation of “Explicit Instruction” strategies, educators deliver rigorous, hands-on STEM learning experiences. Classrooms emphasize collaboration, innovation, and critical thinking, empowering students to explore challenges, learn from failure and build confidence in problem-solving.
Principals across the district have played a vital role in expanding access to PLTW programming. By prioritizing innovative scheduling, allocating resources and fostering school cultures that embrace STEM learning, building leaders ensure that these programs are an integral part of the student experience — not an elective add-on, stated the release.
TVSC’s school board, district administrators and community stakeholders provide the foundation for long-term success. Through strategic financial planning and the pursuit of grant funding, the district has maintained modern facilities and cutting-edge technology. Their shared commitment to “Precision Proficiency” and student-centered growth continues to position TVSC as a regional leader in education, according to the release.
