TVHS Senior Recognized As National Merit Commended Student

Posted

AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley High School announced senior Brenton Miller has been named a Commended Student in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program.
This recognition is awarded to students who demonstrate exceptional academic promise through outstanding performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
Miller earned this honor by scoring among the top 50,000 students nationwide who entered the 2026 competition. Although Commended Students do not continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships, this distinction places Miller among an elite group of scholars recognized for their academic excellence, according to a news release from Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation.
“Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” said a spokesperson for the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). “These students represent a valuable national resource, and recognizing their accomplishments is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation.”
Principal Brandon Kresca will present Brenton with a letter of commendation from the school and NMSC during the upcoming Tippecanoe Valley School Board meeting on Nov. 17. Since 2019, this is the first time a Tippecanoe Valley student has achieved this level of recognition from the college board.
