Editor, Times-Union:

As the weeks go by, it becomes clear that my good friend Gary Gerard, general manager of the Times-Union of Warsaw, has nothing but disdain for fledgling President Barack Obama and his newly assembled administration, a perception that puts him among a rather short list of individuals who, like R. Limbaugh, S. Hannity and a few other American opinion leaders - never came to grips with the outcome of the most recent elections.

That, of course, was apparent from the first set of post-electoral editorials emanating from the Times-Union, a normally Republican-leaning, yet centrist county seat daily newspaper that I've always enjoyed receiving each evening here in the northeast corner of Kosciusko County. And that enmity for Obama was again apparent in last weekend's "News Views" column.

Having said that, we are hopeful that, as time passes, Gerard, Hannity and Limbaugh, among others, will begin to warm up to the new administration. By the same token, we can only hope that the Obama administration will return the favor by doing its best - even when occasionally erring - to earn a wider degree of trust and support among all Americans.
