Truckers & Speeders

Editor, Times-Union:

Our wonderful masters at La Cesspool grande have done it again. First they rob us through taxes, then they give grants to those they choose. Or they put the money into the hands of the local chicken hawk congressman to divvy out to his favorite groups and corporations. You know, it's the ones that help him get elected again and again.

Recently, our masters have seen fit to give some of our money back to pay more overtime to police and highway patrol to slow down trucker traffic on the interstate. I figured with the Warsaw speed trap on U.S. 30, all the agencies should be rolling in revenue-raising funds.

My point is that without trucks carrying all our needed supplies, we are dead in the water. The last thing we need is to slow down the truckers. With fuel prices rising, independent truckers are being squeezed out.

Instead of slowing down truckers, they need to go faster on unobstructed highways. The ideal would be one whole new lane only for truckers with a 70-mile-per-hour speed limit and not a bunch of shopping center stop lights to slow them down. Or build overpasses to divert locale traffic.

If its revenue the locales need, just come out to South Ferguson Road at morning and afternoon drive time. They could write enough speeding and reckless driving tickets to help pay off the national debt.

Independent voters support independent truckers.
