SYRACUSE — Dr. Stephen Troyer, superintendent of Wawasee Community School Corp., has resigned.
Dr. Diane Woodworth will serve as interim superintendent.
The announcement was made by the Wawasee Community School Corporation Board of Trustees.
Woodworth retired in 2020 as superintendent at Goshen Community Schools, a position she had held since 2012. She also retired as business development education specialist at Weigand Construction.
In a letter to staff, principals and parents of the Wawasee Community Schools, sent at approximately 3:49 p.m. today, Monday, Jan. 26, the corporation stated:
“Superintendent Dr. Stephen Troyer is off-duty while he and the school corporation work out the terms of a resignation agreement.
“In the meantime, Dr. Diane Woodworth will serve as our school corporation’s interim superintendent through May 2026. Dr. Woodworth owns 40 years experience in public education, ranging from teacher, counselor, principal, superintendent and interim superintendent. Over the course of her career, Dr. Woodworth gained experience in nearly every facet of school operations. We are confident that Dr. Woodworth will successfully guide us through this transition period.”
The notice further stated, “Of course, parents and members of the public should ask any questions they possess or provide comments as they have in the past. Building-level questions or concerns should be sent to the principal; corporation-wide comments should be directed to the central administration.”
The letter concluded, “Wawasee Community Schools possesses a strong action plan and a wholly capable staff throughout the entire school corporation to fulfill its mission of educating kids.”
No further comment was made by school officials regarding the resignation. Troyer was not available for comment.
