BOURBON – Triton School Board reorganized for 2026 during its meeting Monday.
The board approved for officers for 2026 to stay the same as they were in 2025. Terri Barnhart will continue as president, Kevin Boyer as vice president and Steve Stichter as secretary.
The board also approved having their meetings at 7 p.m. on the second Monday of each month at the administration building.
The board also approved keeping the salary for board members the same as in 2025, which was $1,850.
The school board approved keeping Business Manager Tom McFarland as school corporation treasurer and Warrick & Boyn LLP as the board’s legal counsel.
In other business, the board:
• Heard students Emma Cook, Jillian Bules, Brook Kitch and Colton Large were named Rising Stars of Indiana by the Indiana Association of School Principals.
Superintendent Jeremy Riffle said the students displayed excellence in academics as well as being student leaders.
• Heard eight students graduated from the high school at the end of the fall semester. The students will still walk in graduation in May.
• Heard a literary night is being planned at the elementary school with the parent-teacher organization. The event will feature a scavenger hunt through Bourbon.
• Heard third-graders will attend the Shrine Circus Jan. 23.
• Approved the Northern Indiana Educational Services Center School Food Co-op Member Annual Contract for 2026-27.
• Approved hiring Connor Stetzel as a boys wrestling volunteer coach, Paul Harms as a robotics volunteer coach, Jason Arvesen as the boys junior high wrestling assistant coach and Rachelle Meister as an activity bus driver.
• Approved the classified directors and employees handbook, adding language that personal days taken to extend regular school vacations will double.
