Triton School Board Approves Resignation Of Board Member Ken Miller

BOURBON – Triton School Board approved the resignation of Ken Miller as a board member Monday.
Miller gave his resignation Sept. 27 due to him moving out of the district.
Superintendent Jeremy Riffle said Miller held the board position for the town of Bourbon.
Board President Terri Barnhart said anyone who is interested in applying for the vacant position can go to the administration office to pick up a vacancy application. Applications are due by Friday by 4 p.m.
According to a Facebook post announcing the resignation, Miller has been on the school board for 10 years. The school board is encouraged to fill the seat within 30 days of the resignation. There will be interviews the week of Oct. 20 and for the position to be filled by the week of Oct. 27.
Riffle thanked Miller for his service to the board, saying, “He was a trusted advocate for our kids, was in multiple - what I would consider difficult - meetings and just represented extremely well this board to parents and constituents.”
He said Miller leaving the board will be a great loss. Barnhart said Miller will be missed.
In other business, the board:
• Adopted the 2026 budget, totaling $14,354,725. The rainy day fund is $500,000. The debt service is $1,770,200. The education fund is $7,869,980, and operations fund is $4,214,545.
• Approved the resignation of Rick Yarbrough as the high school assistant principal effective Sept. 14.
• Approved the 2025-26 emergency preparedness plan.
• Heard parent-teacher conferences will be Thursday.
• Heard the PTO’s Haunted Hallways at the elementary school will be Oct. 30.
• Approved hiring Lisa Hammand as a sixth-grade volleyball volunteer assistant coach, Lisa Bemish as a girls wrestling assistant coach, Connor Stetzel and Kandace Haines as a theater department co-directors, Tori Kistler as a special needs bus driver and Anika Spangle as an elementary instructional assistant.
