Tribute To Phaneuf

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

Many may have noticed, over the years, the letters on a variety of subjects written by Joyce Phaneuf and published in the Times-Union. Joyce passed away this past week from a very aggressive form of lung cancer.

Joyce was a lot like salt, adding flavoring to the lives she touched. Sometimes she was a little "too salty," but Joyce thought, "Better too much than too little." I came to agree with her. Her presence in the lives of those of us who called her a friend will be missed. She was a loyal and active advocate for her God, her country, her family and her community, in spite of her advanced age and personal challenges. May we all learn from her live of involvement.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday at 1 p.m. at the North Webster United Methodist Church. Donations can be made to the church for the North Webster Food Bank to buy warm clothing for the needy children in the North Webster community, a cause championed by Joyce and supported by her active participation.
