A Warsaw woman who was pulled over for allegedly going left of center and given sobriety tests ended up being booked in jail for battery on a police officer.
Amy Leeann Fuller, 37, of 8 EMS B58 Lane, Warsaw, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 2:26 a.m. Tuesday and faces two Class A misdemeanor charges for resisting law enforcement and battery on a public safety official.
According to the police report, Warsaw Police officer Ross Minear was traveling north on CR 325E at 1:40 a.m. Tuesday behind a red 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Minear reported that the vehicle, driven by Fuller, drove left of the double yellow center divider line, then turned onto Old 30. When Minear activated his police lights to perform a traffic stop, Minear reported that Fuller drove several hundred feet before stopping in a gravel driveway on East Old 30.
Fuller told Minear she was trying to avoid potholes in the road and that’s why she swerved, according to the report. Minear wrote he could smell alcohol and so he asked Fuller to perform a field sobriety test, which she passed. When other officers arrived at the traffic stop, according to the police report, a K9 alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.
Fuller told police there was nothing illegal in her car, then took a breathalyzer test that registered at 0.018%, according to the police report. Police also found no illegal drugs in Fuller’s car.
While Fuller was being handcuffed while police investigated, the police report states that Fuller was attempting to get away from police and dug her nails into Minear’s hands, causing him pain.
Fuller’s bond was set at $5,250 for the charges, and she was issued a citation for driving left of center.
