FULTON COUNTY – Two people from New Jersey and one from New York were arrested on drug-related charges after a traffic stop Sunday by an Indiana State Police trooper in Fulton County.
At approximately 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Indiana State Police Trooper Jarod Sheetz conducted a traffic stop on a 2004 Toyota Camry for traveling in excess of 100 mph on U.S. 31 in Rochester. During the stop, Sheetz identified the driver as Liriannys Andrea Munoz Navarro, 22, from Newark, N.J. Also in the vehicle were two passengers, identified as Marilyn Emilia Mendoza Ceballos, 32, from Newark, N.J., and Gianluca Jaramillo Revelo, 23, from Queens, N.Y.
While interacting with Munoz Navarro, Sheetz observed indicators of potential criminal activity and requested the assistance of a K9 unit. Deputy James Dulin Biddle, of the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, responded with his K-9 partner, Agi, who alerted the officers to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle, according to a news release from the ISP.
A search of the vehicle revealed suspected methamphetamine, a controlled substance, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Additionally, a bag of suspected narcotics was located in a nearby ditch, which was believed to have come from the vehicle.
Munoz Navarro, Mendoza Cebellos and Revelo were taken into custody and transported to the Fulton County Jail.
The suspected narcotics will be sent to the ISP laboratory for an exact determination of the substance, the release states.
Preliminary charges against Munoz Navarro include possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony; obstruction of justice, level 6 felony; possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor; possession of marijuana, class B misdemeanor; possession of drug paraphernalia, class C misdemeanor; operator never licensed, class C misdemeanor; and reckless driving, class C misdemeanor.
Preliminary charges against Mendoza Ceballos include possession of methamphetamine, level 6 felony; obstruction of justice, level 6 felony; possession of a controlled substance, class A misdemeanor; possession of marijuana, class B misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia, class C misdemeanor.
Preliminary charges against Revelo include possession of methamphetamine, level 6 felony; obstruction of justice, level 6 felony; possession of a controlled substance, class A misdemeanor; possession of marijuana, class B misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia, class C misdemeanor.
Sheetz was assisted by other members of the Indiana State Police Peru Post and the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office.
