Traffic Signals

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

Why is there no traffic signal or crossing signs where Ind. 15 intersects with Main, Fort Wayne and Market streets in Warsaw?

Main Street is a main pedestrian and bicycle thoroughfare because of it s proximity to our public library and the downtown area. Fort Wayne Street is the main entrance to a large public park (Center Lake Park) and a McDonald's restaurant. Sidewalks leading to Center Street are pushed against the roadway, and I certainly don't want my children walking, let alone riding a bicycle, on these paths. Please locate additional crossing signals at Main, Fort Wayne and Market streets on Ind. 15.

There also is no crossing any place north of town on Ind. 15. How are people supposed to access the west side of the highway? The sidewalks end north of Fort Wayne Street on the east side of the highway. Where is equal access to this strip of road? The city of Warsaw is guilty as well, but the state of Indiana should have looked at growth patterns and proper access.
