On May 15, at approximately 7:15, I called the Warsaw Police Department non-emergency number twice. The first time I called to notify them that the stoplight in front of DePuy was not working. The lady who answered the phone stated that they were aware of the situation, and had placed stop signs on the roads that crossed the highway
After observing the hesitancy of traffic on U.S. 30 for a few minutes, I called back and recommended that they send someone to direct traffic, as it was time for several hundred DePuy employees to be arriving at work. The gentleman who answered the phone stated that the Warsaw Police Department was at the mercy of the highway department in this situation.
How sad that the accident at 7:40 could have been avoided if someone would have been directing traffic at this critical time of the day.
