Town Of Claypool To Replace Retaining Wall On Section Street

Posted
CLAYPOOL - At Tuesday night's meeting, the Claypool Town Council agreed to use leftover American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding to replace a retaining wall on the south side of Section Street.

The wall, described by Council President Benny Stage Jr. as near collapse, cannot be salvaged as the existing stone was mortared together.

Stage received two bids for the work, one from SiteWorx for $29,895 and another from Schue Landscaping for $13,500.

The Council voted to accept the $13,500 quote and fund the project through first-round ARPA monies received by the town of Claypool.

In other business, the Council approved a payment for the town utilities truck and a wastewater stabilization order presented by Ben Adams of Commonwealth Engineering Inc.

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) order, as approved, requires the town to pay a non-compliance fine and develop a compliance plan moving forward.

The Council will next meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 16.
