Editor, Times-Union: I want to ask you the question today: What do you see when you look inside the empty tomb? For sure, we do not see any of our sins, “the tomb is empty!” On the cross Jesus said: “It is finished.” All your debts are paid in full. There is no question about this. Our redemption is complete. The atonement is “vicarious,” Jesus Christ died as my perfect substitute. You and I, the world needs “no other Savior.” On this basis, our salvation is efficacious. It is effective throughout all eternity, our past, present and future sins all taken care of “at the cross.” Do not ever doubt what the atonement has accomplished. Last year I went to Israel. As I viewed the empty tomb where Jesus was laid I thought about the question with new light and freshness. “He Is Not Here For He Is Risen.” This says it all for me and it says all for the church as well. The scripture has come alive.....”God has raised this very Jesus from death, and we are all witness to this fact.” The grace of Jesus Christ is truly amazing. It is wonderful that the tomb is empty. Now, my faith has been renewed, my hope has been confirmed and my love for Jesus grows every day. As I share these words with you, my hope for you is that your love for Him will grow, too.
