To Vote Or Not To Vote

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:
As I have gone door to door talking with the people in the fifth district of the City of Warsaw that I represent on City Council it has become clear to me that there is a great deal of confusion about whether or not it is important to vote on May 3rd.
The City of Warsaw is divided into five districts and each of those districts has a representative on City Council.  When you go to vote on May 3rd, you will be choosing a candidate from your own area that you want to represent you.  The other person will be taken off the list and you will not be able to vote for him or her in November.
So if you have a candidate that you want to support, May 3rd is the day to do that.  Besides choosing one person to represent your area, you will have the choice to vote for two people to represent the city as a whole.  These are the at-large City Council representatives.
Only two of the four running will be able to go to the election in November.  So May 3rd you have the opportunity to vote for three people to represent you on City Council.  Don’t let that day go by and then think, “Oh, I wanted to vote for her” and your chance is gone.
In addition, there are four primary candidates for mayor. Only one of these gentlemen will go on the ballot in November, so if you want a choice May 3 is the day to vote. Early voting has begun at the Kosciusko County Clerk’s office (Kosciusko County Justice Building), 121 N. Lake St., Warsaw.
The early voting office will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (closed for lunch 11:30 a.m. The office will be open April 30 from 8 a.m. to noon and on  May 2 from 8 a.m. to noon.
This is your opportunity to avoid long lines or work around your schedule and take the time to vote. Early voters will need to bring their government-issued photo IDs with them when they come to vote.
People have asked for a choice and all of us have answered your call.  We are working hard to let you know who we are, what we stand for and answer your questions. Please support your candidates of choice on May 3rd or earlier.
