Time of the Season

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:
Ecclesiastes 3, “For everything there is a season and a time.” 1927-2012. 85 years!

Roy and Bessie Anderson purchased three glass greenhouses on Detroit Street in 1927 (can you believe Detroit Street was just a one-lane dirt road?).

For 85 years and three generations, the Anderson family has enjoyed helping their friends and customers celebrate the seasons of life with flowers. New babies, birthdays, just because, I love you, weddings, anniversaries and sympathy. “A time to be born, and a time to die and a time for every other activity under heaven.”

We grew winter poinsettias, spring annuals, vegetables and perennials and fall mums. “A time to plant a time to harvest.”

Our customers (many became our friends) would stop by just to sit in the rocking chairs so we could all talk and laugh. And then there were other times when we cried with those who ordered flowers for their loved one’s funeral or grave. “A time to cry and a time to laugh.”

Now the time and season has some for the Anderson family to sell their greenhouses and flower shop. The new owner is Anderson Property Management. (No relation, but they have the same last name.)

So we want to thank you, Warsaw, for supporting our business and family for 85 years!

And to our customers and friends and loyal employees who have given us more happiness and memories than they will ever know, thank you, thank you and thank you!
