MENTONE - Three contestants are vying for the title of Miss Mentone this year during the Mentone Egg Festival.
Crowning will take place at 7 p.m. at the fire station on Saturday, May 30.
The contestants are Briley Lowe, Abby Babbitt and Lizzie Daniels.
According to a provided biography, Lowe is a junior at Tippecanoe Valley High School (TVHS). She loves helping others, photography, babies and being involved in the community.
She is a nine-year 4-H member at Mentone United and a varsity swimmer at TVHS. She grew up just outside of Mentone and says she loved being raised in the community.
Babbitt loves animals. She has cheered most of her - from 5 to 15 years old - and is a junior coach for CFA.
She shows at the county fair with “tons of animals,” she said, but she’s showed dairy for five years now. She’s also a FFA member, placing fourth in the state for parliamentary procedure.
Babbitt stated, “I love having fun with friends being goofy. I always love making people smile! I want people to know they are loved even if they don’t feel it. I know how hard life gets, but keep pushing.”
She is a tennis player.
Daniels has done cheer since she was 6 years old. She started wrestling this year and “immediately” fell in love with it.
She sings for her choir and her personal enjoyment. She loves to dance to music.
She said her family is her biggest supporters, and they support her in all her dreams and the things she loves to do.
She is a big sister to her younger brother, who’s 13, and her younger sister, who is 4.
“I am doing Miss Mentone to prove to myself that I can step out of my comfort zone and prove to myself that I can do this,” she said.
