A North Webster man was arrested Feb. 14 after allegedly threatening to kill a police officer and kicking another officer in the head.

Brandon Douglas Long, 36, of 620 S. Dixie Drive, North Webster, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 4:57 a.m. Feb. 14 for intimidation of law enforcement, a level 6 felony; battery on law enforcement, a level 6 felony; and disorderly conduct – noise, a Class B misdemeanor. His preliminary bond was set at $5,250.

His initial hearing is set for 1 p.m. March 7 in Superior Court III with Judge Joe Sutton.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed Tuesday, on Feb. 14 North Webster Police officer Dan Buell was taking Long to Kosciusko Community Hospital after he had been taken into custody. While en route, Long allegedly threatened to kill Buell. Syracuse Police Department officer Jason Longmire and Warsaw Police Department officer Phillip Reed responded to assist Buell.

As Buell was escorting Long into KCH, Long attempted to headbutt Buell, court documents said.

A hospital employee heard Long threaten to kill Buell’s children, paperwork said.

The court documents said Long’s aggressive behavior continued and he refused to lie down and let the hospital personnel assess him. As a result, Long was shackled to the bed.

While waiting for an officer to retrieve the shackles, Long kicked Reed in the head.
