Thomas ‘Tom’ Earl EverettThomas “Tom” Earl Everett, 86,  Winona Lake, died at 10:35 a.m.  Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020, at Grace Village Health Care in Winona Lake.

He was born Feb. 21, 1934, in Hazelton, Pa., to James W. Everett Sr. and Eleanor F. Liphard Everett.  

Tom enlisted in the U.S. Army. On Feb. 25, 1952, he was officially an active duty member of the Army and served during the Korean War as a light machine gunner. Two days after his 19th birthday, while fighting in Korea, he earned a Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Combat Infantryman Badge with injuries to his left eye, hands and legs. He was honorably discharged on Sept. 30, 1953.

He married Gerry Lee Bryan Everett. She died Oct. 19, 2003.  

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw. Tom’s life will be celebrated with a funeral service at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 10 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Pastor Stacy Downing. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw with military rites conducted by his fellow servicemen from the American Legion Post #49 and the V.F.W. #1126, both of Warsaw.
