NAPPANEE – Thomas E. “Tom” Mattern, 85, Nappanee, died at 3:30 p.m. June 8, 2015, at Elkhart General Hospital, where he had been admitted May 29 after a brief illness. He was born Feb. 23, 1930, in St. Joseph County, to Charles E. and Ruby Letherman Mattern. On Sept. 3, 1950, in Jamestown United Methodist Church, he married Barbara BeMiller, who survives. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Wakarusa United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ed Geleske officiating. Burial is in South Union Cemetery. Calling is from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. ***** Memorial contributions may be given to Missions at Wakarusa United Methodist Church
