PERU – Thelma Arien Mannies, 87, Akron, went home to be with the Lord at 11:01 p.m. April 7, 2015, at her residence.
She was born June 28, 1927, in Estill County, Ky., to Dewey and Nettie Lane Rogers. On March 19, 1948, she married Harold Ross “Red” Mannies, who passed away Aug. 13, 2006.
She was an active member of The Bible Holiness Church, Wabash. She was a prayer warrior, and her passion was serving God and helping others.
She is survived by her nine children: Rita Sue (and spouse Willard) Manns, Mira Jean (and spouse Lorenzo) Leon, Velvet Vena (and spouse Dale) Bowser and Beth Ann (and spouse Donnie) Hopkins, all of Akron; Schery Lynn (and spouse Bruce) White, Peru; Mona Ree Holland, Montie Ross (and spouse Theresa), Matthew James (and spouse Jackie) and Shanen Doah (and spouse Darla) Mannies, all of Logansport; one brother, Irvil (and spouse Patricia) Rogers; one sister, Fern Mcgrew; a brother-in-law, Arville (and spouse Francis) Mannies; 27 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Becky Jo; four brothers: Macy, Denver, Bufford and Leniel Rogers; a sister, Ruby Scott; and son-in-law, Robert Holland.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, Peru, with the Revs. Gary Gray and David Biggers and her pastor, Andrew Stanger, officiating. Burial is in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico, Ind.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
