The Truth

Re: Donald Guard

As usual, I'll skip over the vast majority of Mr. Guard's latest letter because most of it - again, as usual - ignores facts and reality.

Mr. Guard describes my letter as "vicious," "outrageous lies, smears, twisted situations and absolutely unbelievable accusations," "fictitious," "lies ... disgusting and appalling" and "vitriolic diatribes." Hyperbole aside, it would be nice if Mr. Guard would actually take the time to point out where I was factually wrong, rather than wallow in his faux indignation. He can't, of course; facts and truth have an annoying way of remaining stubbornly accurate. Although Mr. Guard has never put forth much of an effort beyond the usual baseless blathering, so we shouldn't expect him to start being a respectable letter-writer now.

I quoted Mr. Guard in my last letter, yet he can't find a "singe (sic) documented, provable, actual fact." I guess he doesn't even consider himself a valid, accurate source. With his track record of mistruths, that's probably wise.

Obviously, if Mr. Guard thinks youtube.com is a "left-leaning liberal organization supporting only liberals and socialists," then he's even more out of the loop than I thought. As most everyone knows, or cares to find out, youtube is a Web site where people - anybody - can upload and/or watch random video clips. The actual video was from Fox News, well known for its socialist values and far-left liberal lean. So much for fact checking and whatnot, indeed.

On a side note, it's a sad day: I never thought I'd see Mr. Guard cut and run, wave the white flag of surrender, what have you. I do, however, look forward to hearing more from Harold Kitson. Mr. Kitson and I disagree on most everything, but we have managed to have a mostly constructive dialogue for years. He voices his opinions and can take what he dishes out, all without resorting to the broad, empty smears Mr. Guard so adores. In other words, Mr. Kitson stokes debate; Mr. Guard wastes our time.

William McAdoo, a former senator and presidential candidate, once said, "It is impossible to defeat an ignorant man in argument." In that regard, I could have never thwarted Mr. Guard's parade of nonsense; I thank him for his capitulation.
