The River Coffeehouse Celebrates Grand Opening Of Shared Space With Generous Coffee

Saturday was the grand opening of The River Coffeehouse’s shared space with Generous Coffee in downtown Warsaw.
The River Coffeehouse owner Amanda Meerzo said, “The River already had a great relationship with Generous Coffee for the last two years and there was an opportunity for us to share a space. And it was the perfect time and a great opportunity that we just decided to move forward rather quickly.”
Erica Deuel, Generous Coffee, said, “We’ve kind of felt like we were extended teammates already because we just serve hot drip coffee. So anyone (who) walked in and wanted something more, we would point to (The River) up there on the corner and be like, ‘Oh The River gets our coffee beans. Go there.' And so our space’s never fully utilized.”
Deuel said Generous Coffee had empty spaces, where it was quiet up front “and now we can be together and it’s a lot of community and good coffee happening together.”
The front of Generous Coffee is shared community space and Generous Coffee still has its hot drip coffee bar. Then The River has an area in front where they serve food and drinks “and so we have ideas of doing collab events, she said.
“For Generous Coffee, our mission is 100% of the profits are given to nonprofits. And The River and Amanda and her team, they bring in a lot more people that can be exposed to our mission in what we do. So it’s great for Generous in just exposure. And then it feels like an extended teammate,” Deuel said.
Meerzo said the shared space brings community.
Generous Coffee is The River’s sole coffee roaster at all their locations. “So I would say, we just want to keep growing, keep growing and serving their coffee that allows them to keep giving back to their mission,” Meerzo said.
Saturday was also the two-year celebration of the Generous Coffee Roastery. The Roastery is where Generous Coffee roasts the coffee, as well as packages it and ships it out.
Deuel said anyone who came in and got a hot cup of coffee could “kind of see where their coffee came from when it started, what it started as. So it’s fun to kind of see the full process of coffee being roasted to actually being in a really good drink.”
With Saturday’s celebration, Deuel said, “We hope people feel welcomed and get to see the mission in action, enjoy good drink, connect with each other and have a great celebration and time together on a Mother’s Day weekend.”
