MENTONE — This September, visitors to The Hoosier Vintage will experience a shop with a story woven throughout portions of the shop that would make Practical Magic’s the Owen sisters feel right at home.
The Hoosier Vintage will transform portions of its Mentone shop into Blackbird Mercantile, an immersive eight-week autumn shopping experience blending curated antiques, Hoosier-made items, seasonal home goods and original storytelling, according to a provided news release.
Known for its curated vintage goods, handmade products, antiques and artisan creations, The Hoosier Vintage is preparing to unveil a seasonal transformation: Blackbird Mercantile, a story-inspired retail experience that invites guests to wander through rooms filled with old-world charm, cozy comforts and a touch of everyday magic.
Rather than creating a traditional Halloween display, the shop will become a collection of inviting spaces inspired by the feeling of an old mercantile, a witch’s sitting room, a neighborhood apothecary and other carefully designed environments where every display encourages customers to slow down, explore and imagine.
“We love creating spaces that make you slow down to experience everything,” said the proprietor of The Hoosier Vintage, Lindsay Witwer. “This season, we wanted to create an experience that feels like stepping into another world - a place that is beautiful, comforting, and filled with little discoveries around every nook.”
The seasonal transformation will include:
• Immersive room-style shopping experiences in portions of shop including a create your own potion “remedy room”
• New artisan merchandise and carefully curated vintage finds
• Seasonal classes and workshops throughout the season
• Exclusive displays available only during the autumn story season
• A printed Blackbird Gazette introducing visitors to the world of Blackbird Mercantile
The experience represents part of a new direction for The Hoosier Vintage, where the shop will continue introducing original, immersive seasonal stories throughout the year, giving guests new reasons to visit as the seasons change, stated the release.

The Blackbird Mercantile experience is expected to open Sept. 2 at The Hoosier Vintage, Mentone.
