Teen Girls Lead Police On Chase

PIERCETON – Two 15-year-old girls in a stolen vehicle led Pierceton police on a pursuit into Noble County Monday, only stopping after they ran out of gas.

Pierceton Town Marshal Tim Sammons said a 2010 red Chevrolet Impala had been reported stolen earlier Monday and around 4:45 p.m. two Pierceton officers noticed a vehicle matching the description of the stolen Impala parked in the Presbyterian Church parking lot.

“The officer turned his squad car around to approach the vehicle, and the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed northbound on State Road 13,” Sammons said.

He said the vehicle continued north on Ind. 13, then went east on Backwater Road in North Webster and continued east, crossing Ind. 5 into Noble County, finally coming to a stop around 5:15 p.m. because the vehicle had run out of gas.

Sammons said once the ages of the driver and passenger – both 15 – were determined, the passenger was released to her parents and the driver was transported to the South Bend Juvenile Justice Center.

No injuries were reported.

Pierceton police were assisted by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, North Webster Police Department, Indiana Conservation Police and Cromwell Police Department.

The case is still pending criminal charges and is an ongoing investigation.
