T. Quentin Evans

NORTH MANCHESTER - T. Quentin Evans, 85, of Timbercrest Senior Living Community, North Manchester, died at 7:45 a.m. Nov. 18, 2007, in his residence.

He was born Aug. 30, 1922, in Piermont, Montgomery County, Ohio, to Otto Grant and Ola Stockslager Evans. On Dec. 22, 1944, he married Helen Brubaker, who survives.

He graduated Dixie High School in Johnsville/New Lebanon, Ohio, in 1940. He graduated Manchester College in 1945. He graduated Bethany Theological Seminary in 1948, and was ordained in the Church of the Brethren that year. He received his master's degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1950 and his doctorate in sociology from Ohio State University in 1960. He taught at the College of Wooster in Ohio for three years. He was a professor of sociology at Manchester College for 27 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the National and Indiana Councils on Family Relations. He was a charter member of the Association for Couples in Marriage Enrichment, where he, along with his wife, co-led workshops and retreats through the Church of the Brethren congregations from 1973-83.

Also surviving are two daughters, Gail (and spouse Bob Knechel) Evans, Traverse City, Mich, and Kay Evans Ball, Edwardsburg, Mich; a brother, Lowell D. Evans, Dayton, Ohio; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 2 at Timbercrest Chapel, 2201 East St., North Manchester.

Greeting the family will follow the the services.
