A Syracuse woman was arrested on domestic battery charges after allegedly stabbing a man in the arm.
Amber Lee Tomblin, 38, of 14 EMS B18B Lane, Syracuse, is charged with domestic battery with a deadly weapon, a level 5 felony; domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor; domestic battery causing moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery with a child under 16 present, a level 6 felony.
She was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 6:04 a.m. Sunday on a $6,000 preliminary bond.
According to the probable cause affidavit, on Sunday Kosciusko County Dispatch advised law enforcement of an emergency medical services assist at a residence. A man called and said he suffered a knife cut and the person who cut him was Tomblin.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene and located the man and Tomblin. One of the deputies saw the man’s cut on his left forearm was about 1 inch long and deep enough to see the fatty tissue.
The deputy talked with the man, who seemed hesitant to explain the details regarding the incident. Tomblin told the deputy she suffered a cut to the back of her head but refused to let law enforcement look at it.
The deputy separated Tomblin and the man. The man said Tomblin stabbed him because of fighting between the two. The man said he found Tomblin under a blanket hyperventilating. He pulled the blanket down to check on her and Tomblin “flipped out on him.” Tomblin chased the man through the house and Tomblin stabbed him. The man said he tried to leave the residence. Tomblin tried to stab the man again and he knocked her down with a bar stool.
The man told law enforcement Tomblin usually carried a 4-inch pocket knife. A deputy located a knife matching the description in a bedroom. The man said two minors were present during the altercation. One of the minors made a quick downward stabbing motion with their hand.
A deputy spoke with the other minor, who heard Tomblin and the man screaming. The two argued and then left the hallway. The minor heard the man scream and then heard Tomblin say her head hurt.
Tomblin denied she cut the man.
Tomblin has a prior conviction for domestic battery in Kosciusko County on Nov. 6, 2019.
