Syracuse Man Arrested On Cruelty To An Animal ChargeA Syracuse man was arrested after allegedly battering a dog.

Chad Anthony Robison, 22, of 1405 N. Hillview Drive, Syracuse, is charged with cruelty to an animal, a Class A misdemeanor.

He was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 11:23 p.m. April 12 on a $500 preliminary bond.

According to court documents, on May 2 a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched about an animal complaint. The deputy spoke with a woman who said she had to take her 4-year-old Chihuahua to the veterinarian. The woman said the dog would try to walk and fall down and it looked like the dog was having seizures. The woman said she was concerned Robison had done something to the dog.

She said she had left her dog for about 1-1/2 hours and her dog was acting normally. She said no one else was in the house except Robison while she was gone.

The woman allegedly showed the deputy text messages between Robison and the woman. The woman accused Robison of hurting the dog, but he denied it.

The woman showed the deputy the report from the veterinarian, which stated the dog’s left pupil was smaller than the right. The report also documented bruising over the left temporal region, as well as mild coordination issues. The veterinarian’s final assessment was the dog had suffered head trauma.
