Syracuse Firefighters Quickly Contain House Fire

SYRACUSE – The Turkey Creek Fire Territory responded to a report of a structure fire at 203 W. Boston St., Syracuse, at 9:41 a.m. Wednesday.

Upon arrival of the first fire personnel, the occupant inside the structure at the time of the fire had exited the structure and reported no injuries.

Smoke and flames were visible from the second floor of the structure.

The fire was brought under control at 9:55 a.m. with the damage from the fire contained to the second floor.

Damages to the structure and contents are estimated at up to $10,000 and the cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to a news release from the fire territory.





The owner of the structure is Lowell Johnson, Topeka, and the occupant was Nakita Campbell.

The American Red Cross was called in to assist the occupants at the scene with temporary living arrangements.

The Turkey Creek Fire Territory was assisted at the scene by the Syracuse Police Department and the North Webster Fire Department. The Milford Fire Department was initially requested, but was cancelled prior to arrival at the scene and placed on standby.

Lutheran EMS was placed on standby also. The Turkey Creek Fire Territory cleared the scene at 11:10 a.m.

There were no injuries to firefighters.
