Editor, Times-Union: I am writing this letter to express my support of Randy Polston’s campaign for the school board seat in District 4.
Randy Polston has had an exceptional role in our community for many decades. As a former Harrison Husky and Warsaw graduate, I know first hand the important role “Mr. P” has played in thousands of young lives all throughout northern Indiana.
Do you remember when Harrison Elementary received $25,000 for a fitness trail in 2007 thanks, in part, to “Mr. P’s” hard work? What about when he turned into a human hotdog in 1999 to reward his students for raising over $5,000 to help cover extracurricular expenses? Or, for all of the former Huskies out there, I’m sure you remember how “Field Day” competitions always resulted in a tie... year after year... reiterating that, at the end of the day, everyone is a winner. Any student or parent who has had the privilege of being influenced by Polston’s leadership understands the important role he plays in the success of Warsaw’s youth.
Not only is Randy a leader in our community, but he’s a leader to his family. I have been his neighbor for over 10 years, and while he has a very successful family, it has come at the cost of many personal challenges. Both he and his wife continue to battle some of life’s most difficult challenges, but they don’t let that stop them from continuing to put their community first.
Thousands of Warsaw alumni all over the country are living examples as to why “Mr. P” would be an incredible leader for our school system. His years of experience, faith in our community and love for children make him an excellent candidate for the school board seat in District 4.
