Supports BSA Gay Ban

Editor, Times-Union:
I’m responding in appreciation of the latest news that the Boy Scouts of America reaffirmed unanimously the ban on gays by a special 11-member committee.

Young impressionable boys do not need another avenue of alternative behavior glorified and promoted by the mainstream media and liberal-mind thinkers. As a 102-year-old organization, the Boy Scouts of America is dedicated to the development of young boys into model citizens of our country. This is not to say that homosexuals are not model citizens, just as not all heterosexuals are model citizens, but whether in agreement or not, the fact is homosexuality is not normal as heterosexuality, and is an adult decision if one chooses to make. Countless studies report (and unfortunately, dismissed by liberal-mind thinkers) some people are born inclined toward homosexuality but do not act and remain heterosexual throughout life. And, many homosexuals attend therapy and return to and remain in a happy heterosexual life.

Those under adulthood have enough problems with puberty, peer pressure and the up-and-coming pressures and challenges of life, and although they think they know everything, they do not have the experience nor maturity to make such a life event decision. Therefore, it is not in the best interest for our young boys and young men to have adults in leadership positions at the BSA to be openly gay and thereby display, promote (and recruit) their alternative lifestyle behavior.

This is not an expression of homophobia but merely a god-given right to express my opinion based on my life, the history of mankind and my concern for our impressionable young boys and men.

The Boy Scouts of America – God bless you!
