Suicide, unless you've been there in life, you cannot and will not ever understand the mindset it takes.
I'm sorry to say we had a suicide in the jail this week. My thoughts go out to the family. God bless you all.
I did not know this young man. But at the same time, I understood him all too well.
It was just Dec. 18, 2007, I was going to do the same. I don't know why God stopped me and not him. But God does. We may not like it, but what God does is for a greater plan. We, as people, just can not fathom that idea. We want things our way, and we want it now. But what we forget is we are not living for today, we are just preparing a path for eternal life with God.
I have had to listen to a lot of people talk about suicide this week. And yes, I admit it's very hard. Not only does it hit close to home for me, but most of the people that have anything to say have no clue as to what they're talking about. They call suicidal people cowards, talk about how selfish they are and so on. Whatever!
I'm sure this will get me in some deep water, but it needs to be said. Grow up. You have no clue as to what you're talking about. Until you know about depression, real depression and the effects it has on your mind, you will never understand. I pray that you never get there.
Some of it can be caused by medications. What a lot of people don't know is most anti-depressants give you suicidal thought that makes a lot of sense.
Nevertheless, it is very ironic that just a few weeks ago I had a letter in the paper the jail needs a psychologist. Or was it meant to be?
So my challenge to all psychologists is this: Is there one of you out there that would help the jail? Or is it really all about the all-mighty dollar?
