Stock+Field stores will open under new management in April after an Illinois lumber company bought the bankrupt company.

According to a news release Friday, R.P. Acquisition Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of R.P. Lumber Co., Inc., announced its pending acquisition of the assets of the Stock+Field family of stores and plans to begin operations under new management in April.

The stores will retain the Stock+Field name, and the new owners will seek input from employees and the communities where stores are located to plan for the future of the brand, according to the announcement.

The stores will continue to operate in the farm and ranch space, providing the same products and services.

Founded in Watseka,?Ill., in 1964 as Big R stores, Stock+Field is a farm, home and outdoor retailer that has stores in 25 states in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsin. In January, the company filed for bankruptcy and announced plans to close all stores.

Locally, the Warsaw Stock+Field at 3660 Commerce Drive, has been liquidating all of its inventory. It was unclear Saturday what the plans for the local store were.
