FORT WAYNE – Stillwater Hospice invites the community to its 41st annual holiday memorial service and tree lighting from 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22 at the Baker Street Train Station, 221 W. Baker St., Fort Wayne.
The event continues a tradition that began in 1985, offering families an opportunity to remember and honor loved ones during the holiday season, according to a provided news release.
This annual gathering will feature guest speakers, a performance by the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir and the lighting of an evergreen tree adorned with twinkling lights symbolizing the memory of those who have died. The program is designed to bring comfort, reflection and hope during a season that can be especially difficult for those grieving the loss of a loved one.
“The holiday season often brings memories of those we miss most,” said Leslie Friedel, CEO of Stillwater Hospice. “This service provides a time for our community to come together, remember loved ones and find comfort in knowing they are not alone in their grief.”
Families and friends are welcome to attend, regardless of whether they have received services from Stillwater Hospice. Donations made in memory of loved ones through the holiday memorial service and tree lighting help support Stillwater Hospice’s mission of providing compassionate hospice care and grief support throughout northern Indiana, regardless of a patient's ability to pay. Symbolic lights can be reserved until Nov. 1 by visiting https://stillwater-hospice.org/donate/holiday-memorial-service/.
Stillwater Hospice extends its gratitude to the sponsors and supporters whose generosity helps make the event possible and strengthens care for patients and families across the region.
The event is free and open to the public.
