Steven K. Prater, 32, Columbia City and formerly of Silver Lake, passed away at 4:03 p.m. Dec. 4, 2014, at his residence. He was born Dec. 19, 1981, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Steven K. Raver and Alice Prater. He was a computer designer and was attending college. He enjoyed fishing and canoeing. He also loved animals and to draw; he was an artist and a tattooist. He is survived by his mother, Alice Prater, Silver Lake; a brother, Tarzan Prater, Silver Lake; a sister, Christine Blankenship, Silver Lake; four nieces: Lisa (and spouse Don) Nelson and Heather (and spouse Zackary) Williams, all of Akron; Cheyenne Miller and Rhealynn Salisbury, both of Pikeville, Ky.; and two nephews, Michael Nelson, Warsaw, and Anthony Blankenship, Silver Lake. He was preceded in death by his father, Steven K. Raver, who died Sept. 6, 2014; one brother; and his companion. There will be a celebration of his life at a later date. There will be no calling.
