Stephen E. "Gene" Sanchez, age 64, of Warsaw, passed away on July 28, 2026, in Warsaw.
He was born on Dec. 16, 1961, in Warsaw, to Jesus Sanchez and Juanita Hall Wagner.
Gene's journey began and concluded in the same community, deeply rooted in Warsaw, where he forged a life marked by integrity, dedication and steadfast relationships. A proud son, brother and uncle, Stephen’s presence brought warmth and kindness to all who knew him.
Gene dedicated a significant portion of his life to his professional career as a chemist at Warsaw Chemical Company, where he faithfully served for twenty-five years. After retiring from Warsaw Chemical, Gene started another life working in real estate. He loved working with his hands and fulfilling his own renovations. He also loved his two dogs, Max and Vinny. Max traveled to job sites almost every day. His commitment to his work contributed greatly to the company’s success and made a lasting impression on his colleagues.
Beyond his career, Gene found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a fondness for exploring flea markets, searching for unique finds and enjoying the community atmosphere these gatherings provided. This pastime reflected his curiosity and appreciation for both the ordinary and the unique moments life offered.
Gene is survived by his father, Jesus (Dawn) Sanchez; as well as his brothers, Jeff (Jerri Townsend) Sanchez, of North Webster; and Chris (Kerri Link) Sanchez, of Winona Lake; and longtime partner, Cindy Hackworth. His two nieces, Alex Sanchez and Mercedes Sanchez, will carry forward memories of their beloved uncle. He was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Hall Wagner, whose memory remained close to his heart.
A Life Celebration service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 5 at Titus Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2000 Sheridan St., Warsaw. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service.
