Sports Roundup: Wawasee's Pena Named All-District

Wawasee’s Chris Pena earned All-District 1 honors.

Pena, a junior forward for the Warriors boys soccer team, was named to the second team. He was one of 16 players chosen for the second team, while 25 players were picked for the first team. 



Dunes, Goshen College Will Hold?Tryouts

Goshen College and the Dunes Volleyball?Club will hold their Boys Volleyball Club tryouts Sunday.

The club is for boys in grades 6-12. 

The tryouts at Goshen College will be from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

The tryouts at Dunes Event Center in?LaPorte will be from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

The registration fee for both tryouts is $50. Checks should be made payable to Dunes Volleyball Club.

The club will aim to teach younger players volleyball skills, while developing those skills in older players.

Players will practice passing, setting, hitting and serving, and will play in matches and tournaments.

Cancer Run Will Be Held?Saturday

The Cancer Care Fund of Kosciusko County Charity Freaky Fundraiser run/walk will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at 1515 Provident Court.

The registration is from 8 to 9 a.m. The race will start at K12 Health Pavilion, run the Beyer Trail to Pike Lake, then to Sheridan St. before going back to Beyer Trail behind Kosciusko Community Hospital, which is this year’s title sponsor. 

All proceeds will go to the Cancer Care Fund to help cancer patients and their families with finances related to fighting the disease.
