Spartans Win Boys City Hoops TournamentThe Jefferson Spartans beat the Claypool Knights 29-23 Monday night in the Tiger Den to claim the boys Warsaw Elementary City Basketball Tournament. Jefferson finished its perfect season with a 10-0 record, while Claypool was 9-2. Luke Bricker scored 13 points for the champions, while Wyatt Dawson scored six points, Elijah Wright four, and Carson Gould and Drew Sullivan three points each. Kellan Bailey led the runner-up Knights with 11 points and Kaleb Kline tallied eight points. Other members of Jefferson’s championship team are Trayvin Shepherd, TJ Edwards, Cooper Davis, Hunter Martin, Evan Davis, Micah Zaugg, Robbie Straughan, Wesley Martin and Ivan Ponce. Coaches for Jefferson are Ryan Bricker and Lee Compson.
