Below is an e-mail I sent to Congressman Souder. I would be honored if you would put this in your newspaper. I could not find a place to send editorials.

Dear Congressman Souder,

I am very disappointed in your vote today for the $700 billion bailout.First of all, this problem was caused by the Democrats when they started getting involved in the mortgage business. They created Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac when they had no business doing so. During the Clinton years, Janet Reno threatened to take many lending institutions to court because they would not give out loans to "their constituents" who could not pay them back. Bad idea. Like so many liberal programs, they sound good and compassionate, but they always run amuck. And now, we are paying the price. Since the House is controlled by the Democrats, they do not need one Republican vote to pass this bailout bill. Don't give them political coverage by voting for a bad bill.

I'm a life-long conservative and I have always voted for Republicans, believing they were the more fiscally conservative of the two parties. Republicans were in control of the House, Senate and presidency thanks to Ronald Reagan and Newt Gingrich, but you guys blew it and showed us that you are no better than the Democrats.

Since you are my representative in Congress, I expect you to act a little more fiscally conservative and stop playing politics. I expect you to start telling everyone why we are in this mess, rather than being a RINO. I expect you to reject any bill that comes before you unless it corrects the problems that caused this mess. I expect you to look at the next bailout bill and reject any "pork" or any attempts by the government to control more of the private sector. We need to get back to basic conservative principals.

I expect you to stand up and do the right thing.
