NORTH WEBSTER - Sonja Jean Miller, 69, left us to be with the Lord on March 30, 2007, surrounded by her loving family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Blountsville, the only child of Keith and Clova Bales Felton.
In 1967, she relocated with her family to North Webster, where she resided the remainder of her life. She retired from Whitko Community School Corp., Pierceton, after 21-1/2 years of service as deputy treasurer in the administration office. She was a past member of Indiana Association of School Business Officials, Indiana Association Executive Office Personnel, Retired Indiana Public Employees Association and American Legion Auxiliary, North Webster. She was the residential liaison of Culver's Hill Retirement Community, North Webster.
In addition to the deep love she had for her children and grandchildren, she had a passion for helping other people. Anyone who knew her, knew that she had a heart as big as Texas and was the most giving person you could ever meet. She was adored by everyone who knew her. She took great pleasure in her peaceful afternoons watching the hummingbirds, butterflies and deer in her backyard. But above all, she was a deeply devoted mother and "Nana" to her grandchildren.
Surviving are a son, Robert Miller, Syracuse; three daughters, Rhonda Knisley, Leesburg; Michelle Miller, Milford; and Mrs. Brad (Heather) Bonewitz, Warsaw; and four grandchildren: Nathan Miller, Syracuse; Josh Knisley, Leesburg; and Jordan Currie and Jaden Bonewitz, both of Warsaw.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, 7458 E. CR 1000N, Syracuse, with Pastor Brad Cox officiating. Burial will be in Oswego Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
