Sixth Annual Silver Lake FD Dinner & Auction Saturday

Posted
SILVER LAKE – The Silver Lake Volunteer Fire Department’s sixth annual dinner and auction will be held a little differently this year.

Usually, the 13-person volunteer department has a three-hour dinner and an auction at their firehouse to help raise funds for equipment and other needs. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the dinner will be from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the fire station, 702 E. Main St., Silver Lake, drive-thru only, serving pork tenderloins with french friends. Cost is a freewill donation, and SLFD Chief John Conley said the food will go until 5:30 p.m. or sold out. Sandwiches will be served plain and no condiments will be given out.

The online auction through Metzger Auction can be found at www.metzgerauction.com/auction_info/1440. Items are able to be bid on until closing at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Items include gift baskets, new merchandise, gift cards and tickets from Holiday World, The Creation Museum, Cedar Point, Kings Island, Texas Roadhouse, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo, Boone Caverns, Sweetwater, the Indianapolis Zoo, Wagon Wheel, Four Winds Casino and more.

Conley said the fire department has two main fundraisers each year, this being one of them.

The other is a golf outing planned for the last Sunday in June. Anyone interested in signing up for that can contact the fire department at 260-352-3245.
