Silver Lake Reaches Settlement With Property Owner

Posted
SILVER LAKE - The Silver Lake Town Council voted Wednesday to accept a conditional agreement with a local property owner with a high number of ordinance violations.

In Edmund Piecewicz's case, there is a $2,480 lien and over $18,000 in cumulative tickets for ordinance violations on the property on Roosevelt Street. The individual lives out of state and reached this settlement with the lawyer representing the town's insurance company.

The approved agreement entails waiving past ordinance violations and not issuing any new tickets for 90 days to allow time for the owner to clean up the property.

The council also approved the town's contribution of over $73,000 to the K21 Health Foundation grant reimbursement for playground equipment in Indian Trail and Rambler parks.

The council voted 2-1 on a remote clock-in for town employees. Councilmember Jean Weller abstained from the vote because she did not see the purpose in having a remote clock-in.

In other business:

• The fire department had four runs last month: one accident and three medical assists.

• There was a claims docket of $215,447.64 plus an invoice from Kendall Electric for $7,472.96.

The council will next meet at 7 p.m. July 12.
