Silver Lake Man Accused Of Strangling GirlfriendA Silver Lake man was arrested after he allegedly strangled his girlfriend in front of a child.
Matthew Alan Zartman, 20, of 594 W. CR 1300S, Silver Lake, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 9:52 p.m. Friday and faces charges for domestic battery with a child under 16 present, a Level 6 felony; strangulation, a Level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed Friday in Kosciusko Superior Court III, on March 21 sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a woman being strangled by her boyfriend.
When police spoke with the woman, she said Zartman was intoxicated and became verbally aggressive with her during a discussion about money.
According to the affidavit, as the woman was preparing to leave the home, Zartman grabbed her and choked her with his right hand.
Police observed injuries to the woman’s neck that matched her story, according to court papers. Zartman denied the argument ever became physical, according to court papers.
