Silver Lake Council Approves Invoices, Quotes For School Demolition

SILVER LAKE - At Wednesday night's meeting, the Silver Lake Town Council approved $39,908.30 and $22,000 invoices for the school building demolition and grant writing services, respectively.
The demolition of the former Silver Lake Elementary School began Tuesday.
The Council also approved a $25,300 landscaping quote for sidewalks, plants and other work at the town hall and Memory Park.
Vanessa Yentes spoke to the Council regarding a possible added gravel lot for boaters on Silver Lake. Yentes, who lives adjacent to the town-owned property on Shutt Avenue, said she does not want to lose any of her lot to gravel, and offered to put up a privacy fence if necessary.
The Council also voted to table a decision on 2023 town employee raises until October’s meeting.
In other business:
• New speed signs have been installed at the four main exits/entrances in and out of town on Ind. 13 and Ind. 15.
• The fire department had 13 runs this month: one alarm, five medical assists, three assists to other departments, two fires and two traffic accidents.
The Council will next meet at 7 p.m. Oct. 10 for a public budget hearing followed by the regular monthly meeting.
