SILVER LAKE – At Wednesday night's meeting, the Silver Lake Town Council announced the town has been awarded an additional $500,000 of grant funding for the community center project, in addition to the $750,000 grant announced in August.
The latest funding comes from the Community Amenities Program (CAP) from the Orthopedic Industry Retention Initiative.
Clerk-Treasurer Tonya Conley said she is still waiting on four other grant award notifications, three by the end of September and one by the end of November.
In regular business, the council heard a complaint from Warsaw resident Mary Thacker who claimed Town Marshal Jason McGlennen would not escort her to her son's home in Silver Lake while she changed batteries in his security cameras. McGlennen said this was a civil issue and the department did not need to get involved.
Thacker promptly left the meeting after speaking to council and was not available for further questions.
Council set trick-or-treat hours for 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31.
In citizens' comments, Stephen Rockwell spoke to the council regarding a new barn on his property, removal of a deck and pouring of a concrete slab.
There was a claims docket of $68,739.04.
Council will next meet for an executive session at 1 p.m. Sept. 17. The next regular meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 8.
