Silent No More

Editor, Times-Union:

After returning from D.C. and watching the news on the TEA Party Movement, I feel compelled to write a letter of encouragement, clarification and exhortation.

When we started the TEA Party movement here in Warsaw one year ago April 15th, we were regular moms and dads who got tired of yelling at the TV, and watching the corruption that had taken over America. We were busy with our lives and jobs. We had no idea what we were doing, but we knew we HAD to act.

From there, the movement grew into a massive group of Hoosiers in Kosciusko County who decided they were going to be Silent NO More! We've had the privilege to host many events, and opened our doors to candidates with one sole purpose in mind: Education. We felt that voters were so used to hitting an R or D when going in the voting booth, that we wanted to shine a light on the entire system. Expose it all ... the good and the bad! Our group has been actively pushing against the Big Government takeover in America. We are off the bench and we are in the game!

That being said, however, I want to clarify our purpose and our tactic. We believe in peacefully taking back our government. We will publically apprehend and denounce any tactics used other than peace. When I read that the TEA Party movement is ready to take up arms, I felt compelled to write and say .... On behalf of the TEA Party movement, this is simply untrue. We believe that we will win, and we will take back our government that our founders left us, but that we will do it peacefully at the polls! It is possible, and we will do it! How?

It's time folks get off the bench and into the game! It's time that we ask God to take the wheel in America. It's time for the sleeping church wake up and get into the game! For so long the church has remained silent. We have been told there is no place for "politics or government" in the church. They have been taught to be politically correct, sit down and remain silent. We are saying now is the time for the church to stand up and proclaim Biblical truth from the pulpit. Now is the time to reclaim our heritage as a Christian nation. If not now ... when? If we choose to remain silent, we may someday lose our freedoms to worship and speak out!

I am excited about our May 1st event "One Nation Back to God". We're pulling out all the stops! We are flying Reverend CL Bryant, an African American Pastor and activist of Shreveport, La., who will be speaking on the urgency to mobilize and be affective in the church. We will have speakers such as Micah Clark from the AFA of Indiana speaking about what the church can and cannot do politically, Pastor John Lowe from New Life Christian Church, and Dave Koontz from Kosciusko County Right to Life! Grab your pastor ... bring him to VIP Breakfast, and come learn how we can win this battle!
