SIDNEY - The Sidney Town Council held an abbreviated meeting Monday, July 13, which included a moment of silence out of respect for Councilwoman Rebecca Adams.
Adams died Thursday, July 9. The town council meeting was attended by Adams' husband and son.
At the end of the meeting, Gavin Parrett, Sidney Town Council president, asked those in attendance to “keep thoughts and prayers with the Adams family.”
The council shared Vicki Morton, chair of the Kosciusko County Democratic Party, told them to expect a new council member to be appointed by their next meeting in August.
In other business:
• The council voted to approve a vacation for the property where the park will be built.
• The council voted to tentatively schedule trash cleanup day for Saturday, Sept. 19.
• The council voted to approve mobile lung screening services in town on Friday, Aug. 14.
• Craig Slone complained about the South Adams Street alley.
The council had approved for the property owner bordering the unused alley to attempt to fix it personally with gravel. The property owner put the gravel directly on the grass that had grown over this road. Slone reported the gravel did not stay in place and was going into the grass in his yard.
