Shirley Rose Ann Johnson, 76, of Syracuse, passed away at 10:40 p.m. May 8, 2013, in her residence.
She was born Aug. 31, 1936, in Athens, to Leo Albert and Eldora Irene Bryant Chalk. On Feb. 18, 1956, she was married Lloyd Lee Johnson, who passed away Aug. 3, 2005.
A resident of Kosciusko County for the past 37 years, she graduated in 1955 from Madison Township High School in St. Joseph County. She worked for years at S&H Green Stamp, South Bend; Walmart, Warsaw; and in customer service for United Telephone Co. But her favorite job was domestic engineer.
She was a former member of Women of the Moose Lodge, South Bend, and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 3760, Syracuse. She enjoyed cruising around Dewart Lake in her pontoon boat.
She will lovingly be remembered by a daughter, Doralee (and spouse Dennis) Pinkerton, Milford, Indiana); four grandchildren: Beth (and spouse  Christopher) Schmucker; Eric (and spouse Tiffany) Pinkerton; Krista (and spouse Chris) Tomblin; and Aaron Johnson; and four great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Francine “Missy” Johnson, Syracuse; a sister, Paula Chalk, Terre Haute; and a brother, Harley (and spouse Gail) Chalk, Syracuse. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Michael C. Johnson, who died July 12, 2007; and a sister, Marcia Rosenberry.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, officiated by Sister Nora Frost. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Milford.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
