Semi-Pro Football

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

Most people in the Kosciusko area are unaware that there are several semi-pro football teams in the area that could use area support and attendance. These teams are not paid and the expenses for uniforms, field time, referees etc. have to be paid by the team members.

The teams I am aware of are the Kosciusko Mustangs that play and practice at Triton High School, Elkhart Shamrocks and the Noble County Wolfpacks. I am most familiar with the Wolfpacks as my son-in-law plays on the team. They are 18 to 47 years of age and play and practice at the West Noble High School.

Saturday, the Wolfpacks played in the semi-state finals with the Indianapolis Generals who are ranked 8th in the nation and have not lost a game this season. The Mustangs played at Bloomington. The title game will be played in Indianapolis between Indianapolis and Bloomington next Saturday.

How about some publicity next season for our local teams? Incidentally, I understand the Mustangs have to play in Marshall County because they cannot find a field in Kosciusko County to hold their practices and games.
