Scouts Soar In ChicagoOn Feb. 16, Scouts from Troop 715 and 782 traveled to Chicago to participate in the IFly indoor skydiving STEM program. Before the Scouts took flight, they learned the physics behind skydiving, including mechanics such as terminal velocity, aerodynamics and gravity. After the 45-minute instruction class, the Scouts suited up and prepared for the first of their two flights. The first flight was used to familiarize the flyer with weightlessness, and the second was an actual skydiving simulation, being lifted 30 feet into the air and gradually descending. Each flight lasted approximately one minute and was monitored by a certified flight instructor.
